Data Design has implemented a vast assortment of radio frequency systems for software radio, short range wireless, signal measurement, and data communication. Frequency ranges from KHz to GHz have been covered along with all necessary antenna design and specification. The company’s understanding of ultra low noise power supply design and
the precision art of printed wiring board layout have provided the ability to achieve challenging design goals where others have failed.
RF design resources at Data Design include the following.
Hardware and software implementations of short range wireless server and mesh network devices have been completed for a number of projects. Standard protocols such as zigbee, 802.11, bluetooth, wireless USB, and others have been implemented along with custom defined protocols on software radio platforms. Data Design has completed the RF and base band designs for these systems in chip set and discrete forms.
Data Design has invested in state of the art RF design software to rapidly complete detailed board layout for custom radio circuit designs with a high rate of early success. This investment also extends to the laboratory equipment necessary for generating radio signals and testing responses. GHz class signal sources and spectrum analyzers are available. A 6 GHz network analyzer makes examining results in the lab quick and reliable.
Data Design has invested in machinery to manufacture prototype patch antennas on printed circuit board substrates including Rogers materials. This automated numerically controlled milling machinery can accept CAM file output from the RF design software and manufacture a prototype. The prototype can be examined on the network analyzer immediately, allowing a rapid iterative improvement process. A printed circuit board vendor can then manufacture the finished design in volume. For many wireless applications using patch antennas there really is no faster or more cost effective way to converge on optimum design solutions. Patch antennas are also highly tuned, low profile, and easily concealed.
The company has repeatedly implemented GPS antenna, low noise amplifier, and receiver systems to keep pace with the latest technology, including indoor receiving units. The ability to manufacture patch antennas of all geometries has helped tremendously in providing customers with GPS solutions optimized for packaging requirements.
